Privacy Policy

Your Documents Stay on Your Machine

Writespect^™ runs entirely on your own Windows computer. It connects to your local copy of Microsoft Word^® and to your AI assistant’s client on the same machine through a local Writespect server. Writespect does not upload your documents or their text to Hopeful or to a Writespect cloud service. The AI assistant you connect may send content to its own provider, as explained below.

No Account Required

Writespect^™ does not require you to create an account with us, sign in to a Writespect service, or give us any personal information to use the app.

What Writespect Stores on Your Computer

So that any edit can be undone, Writespect^™ takes a snapshot before every change. A snapshot is a complete copy of the document at that moment, written to Writespect’s own folder on your computer (under your local application data). This means copies of your documents accumulate on your machine as you work.

Alongside each snapshot, Writespect records what the edit was: which tool ran, and a short summary of it. For a find-and-replace, that summary includes a truncated preview of the text you searched for and the text you replaced it with, so you can identify the snapshot later. Those previews are fragments of your document’s text.

Writespect also writes local log files recording the server’s activity, to help you troubleshoot it.

All of this stays on your computer and is never transmitted anywhere. You control how long snapshots are kept, by age and by how many are retained per document, in Writespect’s settings, and you can delete them at any time. If you work under a retention or data-handling policy, these are the files to point it at.

Your AI Assistant Is Separate

Writespect^™ works with third-party AI assistants (such as Claude or ChatGPT). When you ask your assistant to draft or revise something, your conversation with that assistant, including any of your document’s text it reads through Writespect in order to answer you, is handled by that assistant’s provider under their own privacy policy and terms, not by Writespect. If your documents are confidential, review your assistant provider’s policy before pointing an assistant at them.

No Analytics or Tracking

Writespect^™ does not include analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools. We do not collect usage data, device information, or telemetry.

Children’s Privacy

Writespect^™ is a professional tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
